Every time we do an engagement session with our couples we feel like we’ve built a great bond before the wedding. Alicia and Josh are no exception. We ventured off into the mountains with their doggo Gus and we had an absolute blast. Learning about their interests, getting to know their families more, and experiencing all the joys of a wedding with them, we truly feel like we were one of the gang on their wedding.
We had a lot of fun shooting this one in the summer! When we first pulled up, there were a few droplets of rain falling on our windshield, so needless to say we were a little apprehensive that we might get rained out (we have umbrellas with us just in case but depending on how heavy the rainfall, they might prove useless haha!)
Let’s flip tradition on its head for a second, is that ok? Who says you have to get married in the middle of the day, why not at sunset? Who says your flower girls/ring boys can’t just be pretty horses? What if instead of 200+ guests you just had a small handful of guests, and the food you bought was just some of your favourite curated charcuterie board items? These are just some of the wonderful aspects of having a more intimate elopement or micro wedding.
We are a little embarrassed to admit that we’ve never heard of Writing on Stone Provincial Park prior to this, buuuuuuut live and learn! We can’t wait to venture back south to explore even more of the area! Lots of cool things to talk about this type of elopement style, (finger guns anyone?! They make an appearance later, we promise).
