Road Trip Adventure
We had a week of time off and decided its time to cash in on a vacation I.O.U that we promised ourselves. We bought a backseat mattress, packed up the car, and hit the open road. We left Edmonton later on a Sunday afternoon aiming for our first destination Vancouver. The only problem was that Vancouver is 13 hours and 1,100 km away. We powered through Jasper and left Alberta, before finally calling it a night around 1 am just outside of Kamloops.
We woke up the next morning outside of Kamloops and continued our journey deeper into British Columbia. The hustle and bustle of the city of Vancouver was more than either of us could remember from our childhoods. We went for a walk in Stanley Park along the sea wall before we headed off for our first lifestyle session at Jericho Beach. The atmosphere was refreshing, with the sounds of seagulls as they soared through the air hunting for crab. The beach was a hub of activity with probably 300 people playing rows and rows of beach volleyball. The tide had gone out and in the distance we could see children boogey boarding in the small pockets of standing water. We found a nice rocky outcrop and settled in for an awesome sunset beach session with Caitlin and Todd. More from Caitlin and Todd's lifestyle session can be found here!
With our hearts full from our Canadian stop, we packed up again and were off down I-5 to Seattle. We treated ourselves to amazing fish and chips, toured around and checked out the sites. We took in the sounds and enjoyed the life of the city. We had some fantastic sushi at Japonessa restaurant just a block away from the ocean. Capitalizing on the spring heat, we drove out of town and went for a long hike up a steep climb at Rattlesnake Ridge. It was 87 Fahrenheit, and 1,000 m of elevation. Much needed exercise, but we aren't very outdoorsy. It took us an hour and a half to complete. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Getting lost in Public Market Center, seeing the famous gum wall, getting a photo of the Space Needle, and of course drinking lots of Starbucks and other local coffee shops, Seattle was definitely showing us its best.
Much later in the afternoon we met up with Allie, Taylor, and their golden retriever Ryder down at Discovery Park for our next sunset lifestyle session. The tide was out, the atmosphere was perfect. We could see Mt. Rainier in all its glory on the horizon, and we lucked out with what seemed like an eternal sunset. Ryder was in his element as he ran up and down the beach all around us. Taylor and Allie are so incredibly in love it was almost too easy to document their story. The sky was painted a beautiful shade of blue until the sun finally disappeared behind the sprawling mountain range on the horizon. More from Allie and Taylor's lifestyle session can be found here!
The next day we hit up Pike Place again in the Public Market Center, and toured the nightlife. We met strangers in the street and asked to take their photos. We had seen the city's life during the day, we wanted to see what it could show us for its nightlife. We were not disappointed with the view.
Our journey finally coming to a close, we had to make one last stop while the Skagit Tulip Festival was still on. It was the last weekend of the festival and the fields were stunning. We got to connect with an awesome couple travelling from Vancouver. Jessica and Joshua shared an early morning with us as we made some Tulip Field magic happen. Their chemistry is electric and their personalities mesh so well with ours.

This whole trip felt for us like we were meeting up with, and hanging out with great friends. We learned a lot about ourselves, and a lot about a small corner of the world and some amazing people in it. When we asked all our couples about who they were and what they did, we got to hear about all the different awe-inspiring passions there are that define us. After this small journey we can definitely say our heart is full but we are hungry for more adventure.
